N.C. family sues HGTV show for "disastrous" home makeover
You'll Flip Over Christina El Moussa's Insanely Gorgeous Kitchen
Walking into Christina El Moussa's house, it's easy to miss her kitchen. Not because it's small, by any means, but because it's just to the right of a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that open up to her backyard, which is the stuff ofMTV Cribslegend: A rocky grotto featuring a meandering slide that empties into the lagoon-like pool, next to a putting green and an outdoor grilling area that could double as a great hall.
"I eat dinner outside probably five days a week," theFlip Or Flopstar admits. With a view like that, it's not difficult to see why. But, when you turn around, you'll see her kitchen's every bit as stunning.
"One of the first rooms I remodeled in this house was the kitchen," El Moussa says. The house had a dark, taupe-and-brown Mediterranean vibe, which didn't quite fit her rustic glam style.
The first thing she did was install a large, dark wood island with a gleaming marble countertop.
"My kids love to sit at the bar stools and hang out and have cereal," she says, walking around the counter. Everything in the room has a cool, effortlessly chic look: dark wood cabinets, a white subway tile backsplash, marble and silver accents. Her counters aren't lined with gadgets — those, like the Vitamix she uses to make her daily green smoothie and her favorite black bean brownies, are tucked in the cabinets to the left of the sink. Instead, she lines the counters with memories: photos of her two kids, Taylor and Brayden, and of friends.
As polished as everything is, El Moussa's a mom through and through. She's quick to point out that in the living room, the cabinets are filled with her kids' toys. Later that morning, Taylor underscores that point, slipping past the kitchen table to grab Play-Doh from the cabinets.
El Moussa's favorite part of the kitchen, though, is its oversized fridge.
"I like to meal prep, so we have salads, chili, fruits, pancakes, and — my favorite — peanut butter," she says.
She gives us a peek inside, and it's every bit as organized as you might expect: Bottled water and Perrier in tidy rows, along with jars of overnight oats and pre-chopped vegetables for cobb salads later in the week.
But the part that'll really give you kitchen envy is her wine fridge. It's just as big as the refrigerator itself, and it's fully stocked.
"I keep all my favorite Champagnes, red wine. It's nice to unwind at the end of the day with a glass of red wine," El Moussa says. Veuve Cliquot is her absolute fave.
"I've been drinking Veuve since before I could afford it," she laughs.
