Top 10 Extreme Sports

In our weekly Q&A installment, we asked The Greatist Team and readerswhich extreme sport they would most like to try. Here's what they had to say:

Skateboarding! It may not be the most extreme, but I feel inspired to grab a different kind of wheels every time I see Marty McFly zipping around town and causing a ruckus. It doubles as a fun way to get around! — Kelli Kerkman

Perhaps not the most standard choice, butI want to try spelunking(also known as caving, for those not caught up with subterranean lingo). Exploring the realm of the mole people— and maybe discovering a new stretch of cave— is something I'd love to try at least once. — David Tao

Anything with a half-pipe! I'm too chicken to get up in the air, so I feel like this is just the right amount of extreme for me. Maybe I'd start with in-line skates and work my way up to a bike— definitely not cool enough for a skateboard yet though. — Jordan Shakeshaft

Skydiving! Everyone I know that has done it says the feeling is indescribable, so want to go out (and down?) to see for myself. I also hate the fly, so I'm curious if jumping out of planes will be less frightening than staying inside! Here's my best friend skydiving on Long Island. This is on my bucket list, so I know I must do this before I die. — Laura Schwecherl

Kiteboarding. Aside from wanting to learn how to surf, when I lived in San Francisco, I lived right off the Great Highway, three blocks from Ocean Beach. The beach was always full of people kite boarding. Something about riding the waves and letting the wind take you seems exhilarating, yet terrifying. — Claudine Morgan

This is kind of embarrassing, but I've pretty much already tried and failed at all of the extreme-ish sports I'm interested in: skateboarding (still have the scars to prove it), surfing (no upper body strength for actually paddling out, though I did put in a valiant effort for a couple years and even owned a board), andsnowboarding(my tailbone hurts just thinking about it, but I do want to get more into this now that I live in the north). — Kelly Fitzpatrick

I'd have to say windsurfing. I think I'd probably have to master the surfing part first, but there's something about being on the open water, pushed and pulled by the wind, that I think would make for the most exhilarating feeling! — Kate Morin

Parasailinghas always seemed like the safest foray into extreme territory. I figure (perhaps naively) if I fall, I'll just plop into the water.
